Diversity in fashion and style for all ages

I'm sure you've heard all the hoo haa about the picture of the average/supposedly plus sized model in US Glamour. Now I haven't seen the article, so can't comment on this specifically, but having diversity in fashion models (hell, in anything!) is never a bad thing and therefore good for Glamour I say!

What would be even better would be if average/plus-sized/older/black/asian/disabled models were included in fashion stories as a matter of course. It seems to me that magazines who do print pictures using such models only ever do so in articles that are specifically highlighting the lack of particualr models in a 'Aren't we fantastic for bucking the trend?' way. I understand the Glamour photo of Lizzie Miller was in an article about body confidence, and I remember seeing several interviews with Jourdan Dunn on the back of the Vogue Italia black issue that were all about why fashion is so white (e.g. here). Its a shame that there articles are still necessary, should magazines not also just include non-standard (i.e. extremely skinny/tall/teenage/white) models in their editorials without making a big song and dance about it?

So in the spirit of this I thought I'd show some pictures from a place that consistently does this, which is the 'All Ages' feature in the Guardian Saturday magazine. This is the kind of thing I'd want to see more of!
